The black river scrolls
A quiet archive of twilight, darkness, and marginal perspective. Take your time to read and reflect upon these three poems from Esse Quibo Rivers.

I. Twilight on black water
Shadows gather where the current turns deep,
unfolding whispers the dusk cannot keep.
Between the silt and the slow-falling night,
we trace the margins where shadows take flight.
Listen closely to the quiet undertow,
remembering currents only midnight can know.

II. Marginal perspective
Standing far from the centre of the frame,
where silent echoes refuse any name.
The boundary blurs into smoke, pine, and clay,
watching the remnants of colour decay.
Here on the edge, the stillness cuts clear,
carrying memories we held far too near.

III. The silent current
A river unspoken that moves in the dark,
leaving no embers, ignition, or spark.
It flows past the senses, subtle and slow,
a nocturnal cadence that wanders below.
The final scroll closes beneath the damp skies,
as twilight dissolves and quiet dreams rise.
